Jobie Taber
Assistant Children's Director
Jobie is our Assistant Children's Director.

Jobie grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and moved to San Diego in 1997, which was shortly after college, so yes, she’s a Zonie. The youngest of four children and loved she loved her childhood – great parents, annoying siblings and fun friends in the neighborhood. Jobie always thought that God existed, but truly believed there was a Creator when she saw the rings of Saturn through a telescope. Seeing that with such clarity, it was a super high powered telescope, blew her mind. Shortly after that, Jobie was going through an extremely difficult time in her life and a dear friend gave her a bible. She knew nothing about the bible except that Jesus was in there and that there were two parts – The Old Testament and the New Testament. In her mind, new is better than old, so that’s where she started reading. Needless to say, she fell in love with Jesus while reading the book of Luke and suddenly, the world made more sense than ever, and she had hope for a future.

More about Jobie

I spent 7 years teaching Kindergarten at a private Christian school and met my husband, Lucas, at the church we were both attending. He’s pretty darn amazing! We were married in 2004 and in 2007, I quit teaching and became a stay at home mom. We now have three children- Sydney, Mallory and Nathan. Once we became settled in Scripps Ranch and my oldest started Kindergarten, she became involved with Canyon Springs by attending VBS. My kids continued to attend VBS over the years and AWANAS as well and I began volunteering for both of those activities. It wasn’t until the spring of 2017 that we decided to leave our church of almost 20 years and began regularly attending Canyon Springs…and we are thrilled to be a part of this great community!

Children’s ministry has been a part of my life ever since I began attending church – I started volunteering as a teacher for 4/5 grade kids and helped lead the mid-week program for them. My favorite part of that was taking them to Forest Home Camp for a week every summer. The desire to become a part of Children’s Ministry has been there since the beginning. I am so happy to be a part of the team at Canyon Springs and looking forward to watching these kids grow in their faith over the years!
