Well, we completed the second day of our VBS Safari IN THE WILD! Our campers (made up of Wilderness Experts, Trail Guides and trekkers) is AMAZING; they have stayed focused on their goal which is to ZOOM IN AND FOCUS ON JESUS! Today we had a pack of wild animals including monkeys, lions, tigers, zebras, safari guides, and more. They were definitely fired up and ready to go!

Our trekkers were very busy at all the rotations today! Did you see the rain sticks that your child created? I hope you can enjoy the sounds of the wilderness all week! The kids loved their time at rec the last couple of days with tug of war games, water, and slip and slides. Our song and dance time was spent learning the song “Why He Came” with lots of Fort Nite Dance moves and plenty of giggles in the auditorium.

Through all the events, we continued learning about who Jesus is and what He can do for us. On day 1 we learned that Jesus Knew Why He Came, with the encounter at the Temple.  Today, we learned that Jesus is the Son of God with an encounter at the river. We learned about how John helped people get ready for Jesus, God’s promised Messiah.  John told people to repent of their sins and to be baptized. One day, Jesus came to the river and John told the people Jesus was the One he had been speaking about. Jesus asked John to baptize Him to follow God’s plan. After Jesus was baptized, an amazing thing happened. The Holy spirit appeared to Jesus in the form of a dove and God declared that Jesus is indeed his son.

Thank you to all the kids that brought money today for the kids of Rio Al Mar in Tijuana! Mrs. Holly was quite busy collecting money and distributing bracelets this morning! We were so anxious to see how many kids would get uniforms. At the end of the day, we celebrated that we had enough money for THREE kids in Tijuana to get school uniforms – so they can now go to school because of the hard-earned money brought today by our VBS kids! Please encourage your kids to do small chores/jobs around the house – or maybe you have a coin jar they can raid?!

If you or your family are interested in joining us for our VBS Mexico trip this Saturday to visit the kids of Vision De Dios and provide them with a taste of the fun that we’ve had this week, please go online and register:

Lastly, make sure your kids are practicing their memory verses!

Tomorrow

Tomorrow kids can wear their regular In The Wild Shirts. On THURSDAY we will have crazy, color spirit day. Kids can come dressed head to toe in their group color!

Our memory verse for the week is:

But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
~John 20:31

We are super excited to embark tomorrow on Day 2 of our safari In The Wild as the Canyon Springs Trekkers!

Until tomorrow,

Head Ranger Lesley and Assistant Ranger Jobie
