LIFE IS BETTER TOGETHER!
I never want to do anything at our church without prayer and intentionality. I don’t want to be a church that does things because we feel like, “well, this is what churches do.” No, I want everything we do at Canyon Springs to come from a prayerful belief that this will help us find meaning and purpose in our walk and journey with Jesus.
I have been developing our Small Groups for the 2022 Winter Session for the last few weeks. The theme for our Small Groups ministry this year—and honestly, the theme for my whole life this year—is simple:
“This is the year.”
Coming out of 2020, we all thought 2021 would be a return to what was in the past. It was not. I do not think “going back” is ever going to happen. To be quite honest, I do not even think it’s healthy to keep yearning for what once was.
This is the year we stop looking to the past, praying, and hoping that things will just go back to “normal.” Living in the past is boring and demotivating. Let’s stop longing for the past and instead start forging the future. Let’s not go back to normal but let’s get back to the supernatural! Let’s begin praying about what God has for your life in 2022! God wants to do incredible things in your life and with your family this year. Do not miss it because you are stuck in the past, waiting for things to go back to normal. If we have learned anything from 2021, things are not going back to normal. That is okay. Let’s get back to the supernatural.
This is the year we start looking forward.
This is the year we stop making excuses for our faith. Excuses like: Too busy, not connected, lazy or apathetic faith. Yes, we got pulled out of our spiritual rhythm in 2020, but it is not the church’s job to pull me back, and it is not God’s job. This one is on me. It is on me to battle back against the Enemy. It is on me to feed myself on the Word of God. It is on me to make sure I have other Christians around me to help me grow. The church will always provide spaces and places for you to grow, connect with God and others, and Worship, but it is on each of us to access those. This is the year we get back to a consistent time with God. This is the year we yearn for God’s Spirit in deep and meaningful ways. This is the year we get back to our faith and stop making excuses. Trust me; this one is for me too! I want to be this kind of person as well!
Finally, this is the year you get connected.
For some, you have been going to Canyon Springs for years, and you do not have one friend that goes here. I do not want that for you! Church is meant to be shared with friends 🙂 This is the year you get connected, make authentic friendships, and start growing in community. There are many ways to do that here, and Small Groups are just one of those avenues, but I believe that this is the best option if you want community and friends. This is your year.
We will have more information coming out next week. But for now, it’s time to start praying about joining a Small Group in 2022. We have a variety of Groups to join.
