AWANA is back in session! We kicked off our spring session last Wednesday – and it was a full house! It was so great to see all our clubbers back together. We even have a few new friends that have joined us for the first time – love that!

Everyone stayed at their same tables for table time – with their same leaders – but, for games, we switched things up by changing the color teams!! Very exciting!

During Counsel Time, we reviewed the Awana Rules (Respect property, Unity, Listen to others, Every question is okay and Speak with Kindness). We also shared with our new friends what Awana stands for…APPROVED WORKMAN ARE NOT ASHAMED, which comes from 2 Timothy 2:15. What does this mean exactly? We are God’s children and God’s creation and we are called to share Jesus with others, boldly and joyfully.

Ms. Betsy talked to the clubbers about being joyful in ALL circumstances. We talked about going to the dentist and how, for most people, that is not the most joyful or anticipated experience (as it turns out, some of our clubbers LOVE going to the dentist… who knew?!). But whether it’s going to dentist, being sick, getting hurt or being mistreated, God tells us in His word that we can have joy all the time – because our joy is rooted in Him and not in our circumstances. Ms. Betsy shared the story of Job and how he was a great example of this in the Bible. Job had a full life – great family, lots of land, wealthy and healthy – but then all of that was taken from him! He lost everything. Though he was sad, he remained joyful and continued to worship, love and praise God. What a wonderful example for us to follow!

Congrats to the GREEN team; our big winners for the night! They rocked the victory dance! :)

Next week is SPORTS NIGHT! The clubbers can wear their own team uniform or their favorite sports team’s jersey.
