Our mission aboard the USS Submerged is….COMPLETE!! What an amazing week! Our Bubbleheads were so great at staying focused on our key target for the week (which of course was to have fun) but also to….FIND THE TRUTH OF GOD’S WORD!

We finished the week strong with some really fun activities in our rotations:

CRAFT–The Bubbleheads created very special books. There was a picture of their VBS group on the front and several blank pages inside. Some of the kids used it like a journal while others used it like a yearbook and had everyone sign it! Still others used it to write thank you letters to their leaders and friends. :)

REC–It was one big fun time on the slip & slide! And, boy, was it ever slippery!

MISSIONS–The kids got to see how D.J’s Aunt Helen and Uncle Donald took the poor kids in India to play at the playground; this was a great privilege for them (something our kids realized that they take for granted since they can go to the playground anytime they want!). Our “Tide You Over Bags” poster continued to fill up with pics of our kids filling their Tide You Over Bags at home; if your child still wants to share a picture, email it to [email protected].

MUSIC–We didn’t exactly learn a new song today; rather we brought back one of the all-time favorites: Yes to VBS! We called it Flashback Friday – the kids (and mostly the leaders) were super excited!!!

STORY–Our story today was about how much Jesus loves children. The 3rd-5th graders got to hear from a special quest storyteller today – Poop Deck Paul! He – and Ms. Karen (and Buddy) with the K-2nd graders – shared how some children came to Jesus after a very long day and His disciples tried to make them go away. Jesus insisted that the children come to him. Jesus explained to them that the kingdom of heaven belongs to those who welcome it with child-like acceptance. This story reflects our message for today: JESUS LOVES ME!

Toward the end of the week, during Storytime, the kids were given the opportunity to pray to invite Jesus into their heart and become part of His family. Throughout the week we had 72 kids say that prayer and accept Christ! That is absolutely wonderful!! Please talk to your child and see if they made this decision this week; they should have come home with a “God Loves You” book which explains everything that was talked about. If you have any questions, would like to find out more or want to discuss “what’s next” for your child, feel free to email Betsy at [email protected].

As you can see, our activities were once again centered around our motto for the week:

JESUS SEES. JESUS KNOWS. JESUS SAVES!

To review, our weekly verse was:

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. See if there is any offensive way in me. Lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24

The bonus verse for the day was:

“We love because He first loved us.”1 John 4:19

Ms. Jilane from the Mission Train did a final tally at the end of the day to see how many more uniforms we were able to provide for the kids in Tijuana. As of the end of Thursday, we had 12. Can you believe it…. we added 21 more, for a total of 33 uniforms?! What an absolute blessing to the kids of Rio Al Mar! Your kids are so incredibly generous.

We wrapped up our time together with Captain B and Skippy BOTH getting a pie in the face! The Bubbleheads loved that!! :)

The VBS Mexico mission trip is underway today! We have over 25 people down there spending the day with the kids of Rio Al Mar and doing a “mini-VBS” for them. Can’t wait to hear all about it!!

REMINDER: Tomorrow is VBS Sunday!! Bring your family and friends and see your kids perform their favorite VBS songs in the main service. You’ll also get to see a highlight video from the whole week.

Can’t wait to see all our Bubbleheads tomorrow at church for VBS Sunday!

Over and out,

Captain B (…and Skippy)
