What Ministry / Group do you Volunteer With?

Pam – AWANA (4 years), VBS (15 years), Women’s Ministry

Gary – Tech team for Sunday morning (Computers, Lighting, Tech Support)

When did you start coming to Canyon Springs?

2003

What made you decide to Volunteer?

Pam – I started doing the Mission project for VBS when our girls were little. It was a great way to serve as I wanted to be involved but not necessarily lead a small group. I have been the Mission Project person ever since. I also wanted to serve with my son, so I was the AWANA check in person and rewards tracker while he was in AWANA.

Gary – Paul made me do it. Just kidding . . . I have always been good with computers and giving presentations at work, so running slides on Sunday is a natural fit. It is the perfect way for me to volunteer as it is something I am comfortable with and enjoy doing.

What is your favorite part about Volunteering?

Pam – The high 5’s! And being connected in our community. When I am out and about at Vons, etc., kids come up and say, “Hi Ms Pam!”

Gary – Helping to create an atmosphere in church, with the rest of the worship team and pastor. A place where people can escape into the service and worship together, experience videos and follow the message without even realizing that someone is controlling the online experience.

Do you volunteer with organizations, outside of Canyon Springs

Gary – Yes, Cub Scouts Assistant Den Leader

What brought you to San Diego?

After the Navy, we decided to live on the west coast and Gary got a job here . . .  so it was a no brainer. We have been here for 20 years now.

Married/Family/Children?

We have been married for 25 years on June 26th. We are blessed to have 3 children and 1 grandchild.

Stuff & Random Tidbits

What is your favorite food / restaurant in San Diego?

Pam – Hodad’s, Five Guys, The Habit . . . pretty much any restaurant where you can get a burger with bacon. If they have shakes – it’s a bonus!

Gary – Protein (Carnitas, Carne Asada, Pollo Asada & Fish) and salad.

What is one “interesting fact” about you?

Pam – I am a 4th generation Californian, and I win concert tickets from calling radio stations

Gary – I started surfing when I turned 40 . . .  and have been going almost every weekend (as well as days off, vacation days, or whenever I can) since I turned 40!

Thank you Pam & Gary for your serving hearts!
