Canyon Springs Church had the privilege of participating on an amazing mission trip to Corpus Christi, Texas. We partnered with Samaritan’s Purse in an effort to provide Disaster Relief due to the devastation from Hurricane Harvey. Through this week we were able to help one of many families that had their home tormented from the storms.
Through the organization of Samaritan’s Purse we were housed in a local church, fed, and joined efforts with many others who came from near and far all with the same purpose…supporting, loving and sharing God’s word. Our Canyon Springs team was partnered with another team of volunteers and sent out to work in Rockport, Texas. Our assignment: “Mud-out” a house that had been filled with water and had the roof literary ripped off the top. We linked arms and charged in for a couple of days of “mudding-out”, laughter, tears, prayer and pure joy. By the end of our short trip, we removed all of the homeowner items, tore up floors, removed drywall and insulation where mold existed and transferred the recovered items of the homeowners to a moving truck.
Through this process we met and became friends with the homeowners. A sweet couple, Linda and Carlos, who were dealing with this aftermath along with taking care of their special needs son Alex and grand-daughter Lily. We got to know this family, love on them and continue to pray for them since our return home.
So often we go with intent to help and love others and come back more blessed and uplifted from the work God has done and continues to do. Seeing so many with open hearts, spending their days helping these communities in their recovery, brings a joy to see and fulfillment to be a small part of the whole effort in which God reminds us to love others.
We grew as a team and individuals and will continue to pray and go into the world to share His love and His word!
