What Ministry / Group do you Volunteer With?

Hospitality Ministry for Terri & Mike

OASIS High School Youth Leaders for Addison & Emma

When did you start coming to Canyon Springs?

2002 – 15 years ago!

What made you decide to Volunteer?

Mike & Terri – Vic Ippolito encouraged us to help out, so Mike signed up and I was his back up when he had to work the Charger games.

Addison – Once I was old enough I volunteered for VBS. My mom volunteered and so did my friends! I decided to lead High School when I was entering my sophomore year of college. I had just come back to San Diego and was looking to give back to this community. I wanted to grow in my faith and invest in the next generation of young women.

Emma – I had an awesome experience in OASIS growing up and I wanted to be able to serve God by helping other High School students have a good experience with a youth group.

What is your favorite part about Volunteering?

Mike & Terri – High Fives & Knuckles from the kids!

Addison – I love volunteering in OASIS specifically because it is a family. Not only do we do ministry together on Sunday’s, but we live life together outside the church which makes ministry feel much more valuable and enjoyable. God is doing amazing things in this youth group and I am so honored to have been a part of it for four years. I am excited to see how I can still be plugged in to it in this next season of my life.

Emma – Building relationships. Having led these girls since 7th grade (they are now seniors), I have loved to watch them grow and become mature ladies, as I grow alongside them. It has taken this valuable time to build trust and the connection that we now have. I also love the opportunity to connect with like-minded people in my fellow leaders. There is something powerful about serving in similar positions and being able to fellowship and have an awesome time, all while also getting real and challenging each other to be the best followers of Christ that we can be!

Do you volunteer with organizations, outside of Canyon Springs

Terri – Alabaster Jar Project & Humane Society. (Our dog Graham is a greeter @ the front door at the Humane Society. Greeting runs in the family!)

Emma – I have volunteered at opportunities offered through my university (Point Loma Nazarene), including homeless ministries and environmental clubs.
