Seventeen ladies gathered for a joyful evening of food, fellowship, and faith at our recent Women of Canyon Springs event. The aroma of bacon and sautéed onions set the stage as we cooked Pasta Fagioli soup and explored how even the simplest tasks can draw us closer to God.
The lesson was inspired by Brother Lawrence’s Christian classic Practicing the Presence of God, written over 300 years ago. His encouragement to have “a continual gentle conversation with God” came alive as we linked each ingredient to Psalm 34:
- Onion reminded us that God sees our tears.
- Garlic, small but mighty, pictured our whispered prayers that still reach His ears (Psalm 34:6).
- The pressure of the Instant Pot pointed us to how God works through life’s pressures to bring about something good (Psalm 34:8).
It was more than a cooking demo; it was a reminder that God is present in our kitchens, in our routines, and in our everyday lives.
The evening ended with full hearts and new friendships. Each woman left not just with a recipe and Instant Pot tips, but also with renewed encouragement to “taste and see that the Lord is good” and to invite Him into every moment of her day.
