An amazing Sunday out in our communities!

Dear Church Family,

I’m Ava Cummins, the Missions Intern and one of the leaders for our All Hands Sunday event. This annual event replaces our regular Sunday service, giving us the opportunity to embody Christ’s love and expand our Church beyond the four walls of our building. This year, we were blessed with four teams filled with an abundance of volunteers who reached and served many people in our community. Here’s a summary of our activities:

New Day Urban Ministries Team

Led by Jodie Horn and Lori Hughes, our team of 15 organized and filled bags of donated clothing for various organizations. We had the privilege of providing five bags to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and blessing our partners in Mexico through Dan Williams with nineteen additional bags.

Lemonade & Cookies Stand Team

Under the leadership of Lesley Hyatt, this team included 21 children and youth volunteers. We successfully established two lemonade stands, with 100% of the proceeds going to support Chollas Mead Elementary and their food pantry. Our efforts raised over $500, and we were further blessed by a wonderful woman who secures grant funding for schools in San Diego. She informed us that upon completing the required paperwork, we could possibly provide Chollas Mead with an additional $5,000 to $10,000 in grant funding.

Blessing Bag Team

I had the honor of leading the Blessing Bag team, which consisted of 33 volunteers who delivered approximately 230 pre-prepared bags to individuals experiencing homelessness in downtown San Diego. Our Club 45 campers helped assemble these bags the previous week. Each bag contained personal hygiene products, food, water, and dog food. We were able to meet and pray with many individuals, hearing their unique testimonies and stories as we connected with them.

Prayer Team

Lastly, Pastor John Rose led our dedicated prayer team of eleven individuals who spent the morning in deep, intentional dialogue with the Lord, lifting up our efforts and the community in prayer.

Thank You

We sincerely appreciate and thank everyone who participated and sacrificed their time to serve alongside us. Whether through physical presence, spiritual support, or donations, your contributions are invaluable. We look forward to serving with you all again in the future.

With gratitude,

Ava Cummins
