Oasis In The Water Blog Middle School (Week of 10/08/19)
Hey there! Welcome to the Oasis Middle blog!
We’re talking about DATING at Midweeks this Thursday! Our small groups will go based off of this Sunday’s message all about the purpose of dating, whether dating in middle school is a good idea or not, and the reasons why people date.
Sunday Message Recap:
- Only 2% of couples who start dating in middle school or high school get married.
- We need to learn to guard our hearts, even from our own emotions sometimes. (Proverbs 4:23)
- There is no such thing as “the one.” God does not create one specific person to complete us, rather we are made perfect and complete in Him.
- Our job isn’t to find “the one” or be “the one”, but to get know the One who created us and who he has created us to be.
This coming Sunday, Johnathan will be joining us as a guest speaker. He will be sharing what it means to follow God and to choose him and his ways over our desires. We cannot wait to hear what Johnathan has to share with us!
Next Thursday at Midweeks, we’ll be going a bit more in-depth in our discussion on sex, our desires, and how to honor God in the process. From the stage, we will be discussing these topics on a more broad spectrum and will allow small groups to be tailored to the needs of each specific group.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
On the Radar
City Search is only TWO weeks away! Make sure to get your student a great Halloween costume to join us for the evening on the 24th. We’re going to come together for a night of candy, costumes, prizes, and a photo scavenger hunt. More details to follow!
We are looking for some drivers that would want to help get some of our City Heights friends to the Cove on Wednesdays. We only have 8 Wednesdays left in the year that we are trying to fill. The students you are helping are actually refugees from other countries so it is really hard for them to get around and have made some deep connections at Canyon Springs through our amazing scholarship opportunities for camps. They have been to our camps and have made great connections with kids here and their leaders. We want to continue to help these kids stay in the orbit of Gods Spirit and all the great stuff that is going on at Canyon Springs. If this is tugging on your heart you can sign up HERE
to help transport some students. You can sign up to pick up, drop off or both. Click on the link and read over the description on how to sign up and how to get into contact with the ministry supervisor Melissa Drake for address and timing.
