The first day at VBS with our Canyon Springs Creatives was awesome!

Our team of Rockstars and Roadies are the cream of the crop and made Day One a smashing success!

The campers made their way to four different adventures this morning: Craft, Snack/Rec, Music and Story. All of them centered around our mission for the week, which is…

Created! Designed! Empowered!

Today’s bible story was based on the scripture from Acts 13: 21-23. God chose David to be the king of Israel. David loved God and was willing to follow God’s plan. David was a mighty king. He won battles, played instruments, and a lot of people knew him. He could have thought of himself as the greatest person in the world. Instead, David chose to honor God. David wrote about how great God is. He knew that everything God created has a purpose. He wrote that even the sun and moon follow God’s plan. David praised God as the King. God created David to be a king, but God is the true King of everything.

The lesson reflects today’s message: God is the marvelous creator!

In light of following God’s plan, this week our Canyon Springs Creatives are invited to help and care for the children of Iglesia de Christo by bringing donations to provide for a “Breakfast and Bible Stories” Program. In this particular area of Tijuana, many children don’t have access to consistent meals. Iglesia de Christo opens their doors every Saturday for children to come and receive a free hot breakfast and then they share the gospel with the children.  They also provide beans and rice throughout the week as needed and attempt to fill any physical needs as they arise. Campers can bring donations to VBS. At the end of each day we will count how many “pancakes” we were able to provide based on the campers’ donations.

Your children also came home with a postcard about our one day, family friendly mission trip to Mexico. It will take place on Saturday, June 25th. If you and your child would like to attend, you can sign up and get all the detailed information at

Tomorrow is Artist in the Making at VBS ~ Come to VBS dressed like a rockstar, your artist smock, best painter’s get up, a dancer, your scientist outfit or anything else related to our theme of creativity. (Campers do not have to wear their VBS t-shirt on this day, but attire needs to remain appropriate). Please also refrain from bringing any large “props” as it will be challenging for children to rotate between stations with these items. We can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Hopefully you are all listening to the CD and learning the words to all the VBS songs! Or you have downloaded them on your Spotify or Apple Music (see QR codes below)!
