When did you start coming to Canyon Springs?

I started attending Canyon Springs Church about 20 years ago. Jack and Jilane had just moved from the library to the auditorium at Jerabek Elementary School. I remember when Jilane was pregnant with Sterling.

About You

What is your job/profession?

I’m in Property Management and have had a business for about 30 years. I am finally retiring!

Where were you born/raised?

I was born in Redwood City, in the San Francisco Bay area. My family moved to San Diego (specifically Bonita) when I was 12 and my sister was 14.

What brought you to San Diego?

In 1969 my dad and his best friend discovered San Diego didn’t have any decent sourdough bread. So they came up with the idea to fly San Francisco sourdough bread fresh everyday to San Diego using PSA. It was a hit . . .  who doesn’t love fresh sourdough? The business grew very quickly and for 5 years with the bread at most grocery stores and restaurants in San Diego. Then 1974 oil embargo caused the planes to be late everyday, their distribution trucks had to wait in line for gas, etc., and it drop them out of business. We stayed in San Diego.

Married/Family/Children?

I have been married for 36 years with a married son and daughter-in-law who live in Irvine and gave me a beautiful granddaughter who turns one year old next month. We also have a daughter who lives in San Francisco and works for Google. Both of my kids were in the first youth group at Canyon Springs back in the day. I think there were 6 kids in the group initially.

Stuff & Random Tidbits

What is your favorite food / restaurant in San Diego?

Jake’s Del Mar is my favorite restaurant. My husband and I walk the beach throughout the year and have our best talks during that time. Then we head over to the bar (it’s cheaper) at Jake’s have seafood salad, a glass of wine and head for home.

What are two truths and a lie about you?

  • I love scary, bloody, murder mystery type movies . . . the more gore the better!
  • I have run 3 marathons in my life.
  • My girlfriends tell me I am the biggest (female) eater they have ever known!

You guess which one are my truths and the one that is not!

Thank you Tina for your serving heart!
